Founded in 1934, Kagami Crystal has been providing high-quality products as Japan's first specialized crystal glass factory. The product we are introducing today is a pair of kaiseki sake cups made by Kagami Crystal, which inherits the techniques of Edo Kiriko, a traditional Japanese craft. The deep crimson and vibrant lapis lazuli crystal glass emit a delicate brilliance that embodies the Japanese aesthetic sense.
The greatest feature of this kaiseki sake cup is the intricate Edo Kiriko pattern that covers the entire glass. Traditional patterns such as light-reflecting "star cut glass" and a mesh-like "nanako" pattern have been carefully carved into the bowl by artisans. These cuts create complex and beautiful shadows on the surface of the glass, revealing different expressions depending on the angle from which it is viewed.
When you pick it up, the unevenness of the cuts feels comfortable on your fingers, and you can feel the clear brilliance and weight that only crystal glass can offer. In contrast to the gorgeous cuts on the bowl, the stem of the glass has a simple yet beautiful curve, maintaining stability. The crimson and lapis lazuli glasses each evoke traditional Japanese colors, and when placed side by side, their beauty is further enhanced. When you pour sake into the glass, the light reflects off the cuts, creating a sparkling effect that is reminiscent of a kaleidoscope.
