This is "San," a work by Iwata Hisatoshi (1925-1994), one of Japan's leading glass artists. The word "San" means "brilliant, dazzling, and beautiful, like the light of a fire shining brightly," and as its name suggests, it exudes a radiant presence. The entire piece is studded with delicate gold leaf, and when you hold it in your hand, it exudes a luxurious feel, as if you are embracing light.
