Koji Ishii (1946–2019) is one of Japan's leading glass artists, known for his fantastical jellyfish motif works. Using a unique inclusion technique, he trapped colors and motifs inside the glass to create a sense of transparency and floating that is reminiscent of the deep sea. All of his works are one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces, and are housed in art museums both in Japan and abroad. They continue to be highly regarded today, with small pieces selling for around 80,000 yen and medium to large masterpieces selling for over 1 million yen.
