This item is a rare old bottle of Glenstag 12 Year Old (Special Grade) Scotch whisky, which was distributed in Japan in the mid-1980s. It is a pure malt (now called a blended malt) made using only 100% malt whisky, and is characterized by its rich composition, achieved by a luxurious blend of Highland and Islay single malts. While the current Glenstag is a blended whisky (malt + grain) made using whisky aged for at least three years, this product stands out as a completely different whisky, one that is now unavailable.

Immediately after opening, the aroma is dominated by a rich malty flavor and a sweetness reminiscent of Scotch candy, but at the same time, a fresh, juicy freshness reminiscent of green apples emerges. Despite being aged for 12 years, the alcoholic hit is surprisingly mild. The aroma rapidly unfolds as the first drop is poured into the glass and comes into contact with the air, and the exquisite transformation that occurs from moment to moment is a feat that only the finest whiskeys of this era can achieve. The strong peaty aroma characteristic of Islay whiskeys is deliberately kept to a minimum, and instead, a unique depth reminiscent of fresh cheese adds a complex color to the blend.

What is particularly noteworthy is the "maturity that far exceeds the 12 years" that blossoms over time after opening. After about 10 weeks from opening, through gradual oxidation and the addition of water, it reaches a perfect balance with an even more elegant floral feel. The harshness and impurities typical of less aged wines are completely hidden, and the fresh aroma of apricots, berries, and plums stimulates the salivary glands, revealing an intuitive and elegant sweetness that is reminiscent of putting peeled grapes in your mouth.

The finish is extremely long, with a light malty flavor and sweetness that lingers in a pleasant aftertaste. After sipping the entire glass, a rich honey aroma reminiscent of acacia honey wafts from the glass, with no hint of impurities until the very last drop. This bottle, which has gained depth over the years, is a supreme masterpiece that allows you to enjoy to your heart's content the "elegant, floral aftertaste" unique to old bottles that can never be found in modern whiskeys.
