This masterpiece was bottled by Peter J. Russell, a prestigious independent bottler in Edinburgh, the predecessor of Ian MacLeod, which now owns Glengoyne Distillery and other distilleries. The spirit selected by the company for this release is widely known among enthusiasts as a single malt from Glenfarclas Distillery, a Speyside giant that remains family-run to this day. The price at the time of release was strategically set compared to other brands with the same age, but its quality is so high that it would be valued several times higher in the modern whisky market, and it is now revered as "the pinnacle of Speyside sherry from a lost era."
