Glengoyne Distillery, located on the border between the Highlands and Lowlands, is considered one of Scotland's most beautiful distilleries. This is an extremely rare Glengoyne 12 Year Old from the "Special Grade" era, introduced to the Japanese market before the revision of the Liquor Tax Law in the late 1980s. The specifications of "750ml / 43% ABV" on the bottle and the import details from the importer at the time, Sanyo Electric Trading Co., Ltd. (distributor: Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd.), speak to its historical value as a symbol of Japan's golden age of whisky.

During this time, Glengoyne was produced and bottled by Lang Brothers Limited, run by the founding Lang family. Glengoyne's greatest feature is its traditional "no peat burning" method. By drying the malt without using peat and using only hot air, the pure sweetness of the raw barley itself and an astonishingly clean, fruity aroma are brought out. Furthermore, the raw spirit obtained through "ultra-slow distillation," said to be the slowest method in Scotland, is aged for a minimum of 12 years in carefully selected wooden barrels, resulting in a deep amber color and rich flavor.

The flavor is even more profound and classical than the current bottle. The aroma is a harmonious blend of gentle sweetness like licorice and light toffee, fruity nuances like lychee and apple, and a slight earthy smokiness. The mouthfeel is very smooth, dominated by the warm sweetness of honey and vanilla. The finish is very clean yet long, with a slight peppery spiciness that lingers. Among connoisseurs, this "Grand Cru Lang era" bottle is highly regarded as a "special bottle" that offers a more classic and complex aged feel, different from the sophisticated style of modern Glengoyne.

The design reminiscent of the Suntory crest engraved on the gold cap seal and the illustration at the bottom of the label depicting the idyllic scenery surrounding the distillery symbolize the rich craftsmanship and pride of the time. In excellent condition with the liquid level well maintained, this bottle is a historical heritage for collectors and a bottle that promises a supreme experience for enthusiasts. It is truly a valuable collection piece that conveys to the present day the essence of an era when Scotch whisky was a "special luxury item."
