In the product lineup at the time, whiskies for the European market were typically bottled at 40% alcohol by volume, but bottles for export to Japan and the United States, including this one, were bottled at a more powerful 43% alcohol by volume. This mere 3% difference in alcohol content maximizes the potential of the whiskey that has undergone long aging, allowing for a rich body and powerful flavor, making it extremely popular among old-bottle enthusiasts. While there are slight variations depending on the sales region, the retail price in Japan at the time is estimated to have been around 16,000 yen, making it truly synonymous with luxury Scotch.
The aroma and flavor fully benefit from the delicate sherry cask aging that is the essence of The Dalmore, with a sweet and mellow taste reminiscent of ripe fruit spreading throughout the mouth. Furthermore, the elegant and refined woodiness derived from the exceptionally high-quality oak casks used for aging is perfectly balanced, leaving behind a lingering finish brimming with elegance befitting the silver deer emblem on the black label.
