Knockando 12 Year Old Pure Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1966 by the prestigious Knockando Distillery, whose name means "little black hill" in Gaelic in the Speyside region of Scotland. Founded in 1898, the distillery has consistently produced elegant and delicate spirits in the heart of Speyside. This product was aged for 12 years in a bottle from the era when whisky was called "Pure Malt," and is marked "Season" to indicate that the spirit was casked in 1966 and bottled in 1978.

Knockando is generally considered the epitome of the light and vibrant Speyside style, and in the past, it was often met with divided opinion. However, this whisky, distilled in the mid-1960s, known as the "golden age" of Scotch whisky, has the potential to stand out from modern bottles. After 12 years of aging, this whisky is bottled at 43% ABV, and the distinctive nutty aroma and honeyed sweetness of Knockando have been refined to a deep, mellow flavor thanks to the bottle aging process unique to old bottles. The richer, fuller malt flavor of the 1960s whisky, combined with the texture achieved through the traditional craftsmanship of the time, make it worthy of being rediscovered as a "hidden gem" among enthusiasts.

In the Japanese market, this whisky has a historical background: it was imported by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. under the former "Special Grade Whisky" system and sold by Sapporo Breweries Ltd., and is therefore uniquely marked with the bottle number "0838." From aging to bottling, and continuing through the many years to the present day, the mellow richness contained within the bottle conveys the brilliance of a lost era. Combining the refined elegance of Speyside with the power of its golden age, this bottle is truly a worthy addition to any true enthusiast's collection.
