This "Dufftown Glenlivet 8 Year Old" is an extremely valuable old bottle that was in circulation in the early 1980s, when Arthur Bell & Sons owned it. It has a volume of 760ml and an alcohol content of 46%. The reason for the volume being 760ml is that the typical volume of a 4/5 quart whisky, based on the imperial system used by Scotch whisky, was 757ml to 760ml when converted to liters (ℓ). Therefore, it was bottled at 760ml. (However, the volume of this product is thought to be 750ml, as indicated on the front label .)

Also, since the term "single malt" was not yet common at the time, the label states "Pure Malt Scotch Whisky." This whisky is part of a rare series that bottled "DUFFTOWN," the key malt for the blended Scotch whisky Bell's, to allow its finest qualities to be enjoyed in their natural state. This is also the first edition of the series, bottled at 46% alcohol. ( The customs clearance sticker on the back of the bottle erroneously states the alcohol content as 43%, but the correct reading on the front label is 46% .)

Although this whiskey has only been aged for eight years (or more), the influence of the original production methods and casks gives it a rich malty flavor and oily mouthfeel that sets it apart from current offerings. The aroma is dry yet aromatic, dominated by a sweet malt flavor. Notes of burnt malt and thinly-stretched caramel are present. The palate is soft, smooth, heavy, and syrupy. The natural sweetness of the malt is abundant and full-bodied. The finish is characteristically dry and oily, with a subtle smoky flavor and a lingering bitterness reminiscent of burnt toast. Bottled at a high ABV of 46% at a young age, this whiskey combines strength and smoothness to withstand distillation or on the rocks, making it a masterpiece that embodies the classic Dufftown Distillery style.

As this is an old bottle, the liquid level and label may show signs of aging. There may also be sediment in this whiskey. Please check the condition before purchasing.
