This hand-blown glass is the work of Koji Ishii (1944-1996), a leading figure in the world of Japanese glass art. Ishii, who made the unusual transition from ceramics to glass art, attempted to express the worldview of traditional Japanese glazes in glass, creating a masterpiece that embodies his unique style.

The entire glass bowl is inlaid with a unique pattern known as "Fumon." This is an advanced technique that involves spraying silver foil or colored glass powder onto the surface of molten glass and then fusing it with heat, creating complex, fantastical colors and textures. Yellow, blue, white, and silver particles mix together to create a tranquil, deep landscape reminiscent of antique pottery.

The design features an elegant morning glory shape with a wide opening, a short stem, and a stable, deep blue base. All of Koji Ishii's works are one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces, and are housed in art museums both in Japan and abroad. They continue to receive high praise, with small pieces starting at around 80,000 yen and medium to large masterpieces fetching over 1 million yen.
