This Grand Old Parr Deluxe is a very precious old bottle that was imported and distributed to the Japanese market in the early 1970s, during the era of Japanese premium whiskey. During this period, the quality of the raw liquor used in blending was highly regarded, and it has a distinctive character that sets it apart from current products.

The bottle is labeled with a portrait of Thomas Parr, Scotland's oldest man, in keeping with Old Parr tradition. The volume is 760ml and the alcohol content is 43%, meeting the standards for official imports to Japan at the time.

The bottle retains the distinctive, angular shape that resembles the traditional rock of Old Parr, and its surface is embossed with a fine mesh pattern (tortoiseshell pattern). This rugged design accentuates the bottle's dignity and historical presence.

The key to determining the age is the specifications on the bottle neck and the certificate. The cap is a convenient screw cap, which indicates that this is an early model, following the transition from spring caps to screw caps.

Additionally, the neck of the bottle bears the "Special Grade" grade marking and customs clearance seal, in accordance with the Liquor Tax Act of the time. This seal is irrefutable evidence that the bottle was imported and distributed before March 1984, when Japan's grading system was still in place, and is an important historical icon confirming that this bottle entered the country during the specified period, the early 1970s. The Special Grade marking guarantees that this was a top-quality whiskey that had passed Japanese customs inspection at the time.

The flavor of Old Parr at this time of year is characterized by its balance of mellowness and strength. Its fruity sweetness, reminiscent of aged pears and raisins, is layered in complex layers with the deep richness of the malt and the gentle peaty (smoky) aroma typical of old bottles. This is a deep blend, with the distinctive character of the key malt, Cragganmore, shining through.

Please consider this rare gem, which exudes the elegance of good old Scotch whisky.
